Rob Tieben studies the design of interactive systems that elicit novel behavior. In his PhD research project, he intends to persuade teenagers to engage in active playful activities that are explorative, enjoyable and inherently social.
Tieben enrolled in this research program after finishing his M.Sc. in Industrial Design at the Eindhoven University of Technology. To Tieben, main motivators for eliciting play and action are exploration, communication, self-expression and personalization; these elements ground his iterative design-research, resulting in projects such as MakeMeMove, Curious-action and TouchMeDare.
